It looks like Chrome is finally going to get a new design in the second half of this year. There is a rumor going around that Material Design 2 is going to come to Chrome in the beginning of September.

This has not been officially confirmed but the hint has been dropped by one of Google’s employees. There are not a lot of details out there regarding how the visual interface is going to change but we have collected all that we know so far and we are going to tell you all about it.

What do we know so far

From what we have learned it looks like Chrome is ready to completely revamp the desktop version of its browser. It is highly likely that they are also going to revamp the mobile version of the app as well but there is no clear date on when that will happen. Their main goal is to revamp the look of the desktop version of Chrome for devices that now have a touch interface. We have heard that the new version is going to be completely different from what we have gotten used to in the present.

You do not have to wait until the 2^nd of September to see this revamp taking place. For all we know, Google could try and adopt some small changes to its interface as time goes by in order to make the transition smoother and easier for the users.

However, despite all this hype, the reality is that Material Design 2 is still in the works and it is going to be some time before Google decided to implement this new design. As we are all aware by now, the company is very set on making sure that each feature works correctly so it is only natural that they are going to spend more time on the project to make sure that it comes out just right.
