Lifestyle Briefs: Lil Iguana’s foundation hosting Family Fun Day

Lil’ Iguana’s Children’s Safety Foundation is hosting a Family Fun Day from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Nashua High School South, 36 Riverside St.

The day will focus on health, fitness, safety and literacy for children and their families. Admission to this indoor event is $1.

Bounce houses, an obstacle course by Village Idiotz, face painting, balloon twisting, storybook and action hero characters, and a coloring contest are planned. Samples of nutritious foods and beverages will be available as well as ways to stay active and play.

The coloring contest entry form can be found at www.liliguanausa.org/ffd-may. Two grand-prize winners will receive a new bike and helmet donated by Target. All children who return an entry form to Family Fun Day will receive a free book.

Entertainment is planned, including Big Joe the Storyteller, demonstrations by Tokyo Joe’s Studio of Self Defense, Showcase Performing Arts Center and a mascot parade. For more information, visit www.liliguanausa.org/ffd-may.

Families First offers programs for parents

PORTSMOUTH – Families First Health and Support Center, 100 Campus Drive, is hosting several free programs for parents in Portsmouth as well as a program in Seabrook and one in Somersworth.

In Portsmouth:

. No-Drama Discipline, Tuesday, 6-7:30 p.m. Explore which kinds of discipline are hurtful and which are helpful and effective.

. Co-Parenting Support Group, second Wednesdays of the month, 6-7:30 p.m.

. Positive Solutions for Families, Thursdays, May 10, 24 and 31, 9:30-11 a.m. Parents of preschool children ages 3 to 5 will learn how to promote their social and emotional skills, understand their problem behaviors and use positive approaches to help them learn appropriate behavior.

. Parenting Your Challenging Teen, Thursdays, May 10, 24 and June 14, 28, 6-7:30 p.m. Education and support group for parents of children ages 12 to 21 who are struggling with emotional or behavioral problems.

. Active Parenting, Tuesdays, May 15-June 19, 6-7:30 p.m. Parents of schoolchildren will learn how to win cooperation, teach values and responsibility and reduce power struggles at home.

In Somersworth: 

. Co-Parenting Support Group, third Thursday of each month, 5-6:30 p.m., at Goodwin Community Health, 311 Route 108.

In Seabrook:
