Google Has A New Rules For Android Smartphone Manufacturers
As we are near to the certified roll out of Android P, tech behemoth Google has rolled out some rules for developers for upgrading their applications so that they can show support for the notch display. In addition to this, the firm has also issue the data as to what the developers can hope from the handset manufacturers in terms of display cutouts (notch) as referred by Google.
Besides offering tips to the developers, the firm has also presented some guidelines for smartphone manufacturers that will guarantee compatibility of their app all over their handset with display notch.
In its official blog, the firm has claimed, “First, handsets must make sure that their notches do not affect apps negatively. There are two major requirements:
- The status bar must expand to at least the height of the cutout with no special flags set in portrait orientation.
- The complete notch area should be letterboxed, in landscape or full screen orientation.
Next, handset might only have maximum one notch on every short edge of the handset. This indicates that:
- You will not see various notches on a sole edge, or more than two notches on a handset.
- You will not see a notch on the right or left long edge of the handset.
Within these limitations, handsets can place notches wherever they wish. The firm claims that currently the applications ignored the notch region on the handsets and with these rules the developers will be capable of making applications that will work in conformity with the 18:9 aspect ratio of screens.
On a related note, Google has verified method to make the tabular data search’s results more applicable. The improvement is significant in view of the fact that the significance of data journalism is on a rise all over data tables and news companies are often the most helpful format for them.
