Marijuana dispensary hopes to open on Big Island this week
HILO, Hawaii – Big Island Grown says it hopes to open the first medical marijuana dispensary on Hawaii Island this week.
The Hawaii Tribune-Herald reports the company aims to open three locations on the Big Island within the next month.
The company is one of only two businesses licensed to sell medical marijuana products on the Big Island.
CEO Dylan Shropshire says the opening of the Hilo dispensary depends on when the state Department of Health completes a final inspection of Big Island Grown’s facilities.
Shropshire says the company plans to open locations in Waimea and Kailua-Kona by the end of the month.
The business rebranded from Lau Ola last year.
It was among the first eight companies statewide selected in 2016 to open dispensaries.
